Spring Camporee, May 20-22, 2005 Monmouth Fairgrounds

The time is drawing near and the Spring Camporee is shaping up to be a great time for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. The Boys will be arriving Friday evening for check in and to camp out the first night. On Saturday morning the Cubs will arrive and join in. The opening flag cerimony will be together as we dedicate the Camporee to Matthew Reynolds as will the evening campfire but the activities in between will be different. The Cubs have an exciting day lined up for them themed around the "Survivor" TV series as well as a few other surprises. The Boy Scouts will be in "training" to become Jedi Knights. Details on both programs can be found below.

Keep checking back here as we will be adding more information as the date draws closer. For now please take the time and download the registration forms if you plan to attend as it helps the Camporee committee to run a smoother show if they know exactly how many are coming ahead of time.

    Episode VII: The Hidden Threat

With the Emperor dead and the Death Star destroyed, the remnants of the Empire have been scattered throughout the Galaxy. New legions of Jedi Knights are being trained to lead and protect the New Republic to ensure that the Empire never takes power again.

Meanwhile, on the remote planet of Aquila, a small band of Empire loyalists plots against the new Jedi in training. They plan to set in motion a new weapon, more powerful than the Death Star, one that has the ability to destroy a planet from within.

It is up to the young Jedi to find this weapon and destroy it before all is lost...

Yes, you read that correctly, come prepared to immerse yourself in a Camporee based "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."

All day Saturday the Boy Scout activities will center around the legends of the Star Wars Universe. All who attend are encouraged to dress as Jedi Knights and be prepared to play the part. Some scouts are already building there very own "light sabers" out of parts found in a local hardware store and wiring them up with LEDs from Radio Shack for an authentic look and feel. Plans and pictures on how to do this will be posted soon. Until then you can check out another plan available on the net.

Adults are encouraged to participate as well as we need volunteers to run various "training" stations during the day Saturday. More information will be posted here as time allows and a full packet of information will be available at the upcoming Winslow Roundtable.

The day will center around the "Episode VII" text to the left...

May the Force be with you.
