![]() Civil War presentation by the 3rd Maine Volunteer RegimentDue to steady rain on both weekends last Spring the Civil War presentation was cancelled. However all is not lost as it has now been rescheduled for Saturday, October 1st 2005 with a rain date of Sunday, October, 2nd. Same times and events as previously planned. Saturday, October 1, 2005 (Rain date: Sunday, October 2, 2005) Company A, 3rd Maine Regiment Volunteer Infantry is a nonprofit educational and living history organization dedicated to preserving the memory of Maine's role in the American Civil War. Through living history events, battle reenactments, and educational presentations they work to teach others about what life was like for Maine soldiers and civilians during the years 1861 - 1865. They also strive to serve as a living memorial to all of the people who gave their lives during the War, and in doing so gave us these United States of America. On Saturday, October 1st they will be in Farmington to hold one of their educational programs for Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. The program they have lined up starts at Noon and ends by 6:00 PM. It will be held on the fields located by the Narrow Gauge Cinemas in Farmington. There is NO COST to attend and each Scout that participates will receive a patch for attending. A definite number of how many Scouts will be attending needs to be given to the organizers by September 14th. The person to contact is Rita Smith (778-4058). Directions From the South and East (Augusta, Waterville, Skowhegan, Jay, Auburn etc.): Heading towards downtown Farmington on either Route 2 or 4 turn left by McDonalds onto Front Street after the traffic light by Hippach Field. A short distance up Front street the entrance to the Narrow Gauge Cinemas on the left will lead you to the fields where the presentation will take place. From the North (Kingfield, Rangeley, Strong etc.): At the traffic light in downtown Farmington turn right. At the next stop sign turn left onto Front street. A short distance down Front street the entrance to the Narrow Gauge Cinemas on the right will lead you to the fields where the presentation will take place.
