Preparing for your Eagle Board of review

The following information is provided to explain the latest steps being taken for dealing with the paperwork required for your Eagle Board of review.

  1. The Scout's Eagle application must be filled out. I suggest that this be accomplished with the unit's advancement chairperson's assistance. Forward the completed application to the Council office to be signed and dated.

  2. If everything is good, the Eagle application is then sent to the District Advancement chairperson. If there are problems with the application, the registrar will call the District Advancement chairperson and somebody in your Troop.

  3. Once the District Advancement Committee has the completed application, a call is then made to the Scout to request a copy of the Eagle Report for review by the committee. It is at this point that the report is tweaked if necessary.

  4. Once the report has been finalized, and all of the paperwork is ready, ie. Eagle Report, Eagle Application, Badge Order Form, Goals & Ambitions Letter, and any letters of recommendation, a call is then placed to the Committee Chairman to schedule the Eagle Board of Review.

NO EAGLE BOARD OF REVIEW WILL BE CONDUCTED IF THE EAGLE REPORT HAS NOT BEEN REVIEWED BY A MEMBER OF THE DISTRICT ADVANCEMENT COMMITTEE!

Below is a step by step check list of items needed for your Eagle project report. It should be on 8.5 X 11 plain white paper typed or hand written in pen neatly.

Include the following in your report:

  • Letter of approval from benefiting organization (church, school, community)
  • Project Description (use your workbook) one page
  • Project Details (Use workbook) one page
  • Day by day summary (use workbook) at least 2 pages
  • Materials with a copy of all receipts(use workbook) one page/receipt
  • List of volunteers with hours worked and hours you spend planning and carrying out,(use workbook) one page
  • Changes (use workbook) one page
  • Photographs with captions(no more than 3 pages)
  • Letter of completion from benefitting organization
  • Goals and ambition statement
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation

Note to Eagle BoR committee members:

Over the past few months during eagle boards of review, I have noticed that a lot of the committees do not have their badge order forms present at the reviews. This form must be present so that the review committee can fill it out completely and get the appropriate signatures right there instead of tracking everyone down later and delaying the presentation of the award.
Thank You
