James T. Keene Sr. 1930 - 2005
It is with the most profound sadness that we pass along word that our dear Brother Jim Keene has passed away. Jim's impact on Abnaki Chapter and Madockawanda Lodge cannot be understated. His impact will live on in the many projects he had a hand in at our Council camps. But his legacy will also live on in the lives that he touched. As Abnaki Chapter Adviser during the mid-1990s, he held together a struggling chapter until a group of Arrowman, young and old, joined him and helped rebuild the chapter. It was Jim who helped mentor them, helped guide them in once again making Abnaki a powerful chapter, and helping to groom many future Lodge and Section Officers in the process. To fully recap Jim's 45 years in Scouting would fill many books. He touched the lives of many as Scoutmaster, Committee Chairman, Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner, and Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner, not to mention his many roles, official and unoffical, in the Chapter and Lodge. He was the driving force and Engineer behind many of the Lodge's recent projects, including the Camp Hinds Waterfront, Camp Gustin Council Ring, and Camp Bomazeen Council Ring to name just a few. Jim may never have known the tremendous impact he had on so many of our lives. We will always remember his quiet, strong example and his constant smile. He truly lived and represented the foundations of our Order; Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service. To honor our fallen Brother, members of Abnaki Chapter and Madockawanda Lodge will perform the Broken Arrow Ceremony. It will be held at the Brangdon-Finley Funeral Home in Monmouth, at approximately 7:15, during the evening visitation hours on Friday, November 18, 2005. This is a fitting final tribute to our Brother Jim. Any and all Arrowmen who would like to attend and pay their final respects to Jim and participate in the Broken Arrow Ceremony are welcome. It is requested that you be at the Funeral Home at 7:00 pm on Friday. Class A Uniforms with OA Sash, please. Scouting was important to Jim and was a major part of his life. Let's demonstrate how important Jim was to Scouting, to Madockawanda, to Abnaki, and to all of us personally. Below, please find the full funeral arrangements-
