A Scout is Reverent

In Memory of Matthew Reynolds

Matthew A. Reynolds, 13, of Fairfield passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, following a brief illness due to brain cancer.

He was born on Dec. 2, 1991, in Falls Church, Va., the son of Kevin V. and Deborah (Fenimore) Reynolds.

He was always an honor roll student. He was in the gifted and talented program in math and art. He received the President's Education Award in recognition of his outstanding academic excellence in 2004. He was invited to participate in the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth Program for excellence in 2004. He served as class representative on student councils several times. He was an accomplished musician, playing in the Lawrence Junior High School concert band and in the Lawrence High School marching band. He played the viola, bass guitar and percussion. He was a talented artist.

Matthew was a member of the Boy Scouts since first grade, as a member of Troop 433 of Winslow he achieved First Class rank; his ambition was to make Eagle Scout. He loved to play basketball, soccer and football. He loved snowmobiling and camping; he enjoyed reading, and building Lego with Star Wars themes. He loved reptiles, especially his Gecko, playing video games with his friends and loved helping people.

To honor the memory of Matthew, The Kennebec Valley District dedicated the 2005 Spring Camporee to him.
